Europeans began to settle in the Lancaster County, Pennsylvania area about 1710. It was part of Chester County until May 10, 1729.

Marie (Mary) Warrembere was born 1650 in the Picardy region of France. French women retain their maiden name after they marry.

She married Daniel Ferree in 1675 in Picardy.

Their children and life together are described in detail in the section on Daniel and Mary Ferree. Mary was left a widow when Daniel died in 1708.

She took her family to America.

Mary died about January, 1716 and was probably the first to be buried in the old Ferree family graveyard.

Picardy (Picardi) is a region in the northern part of France.

Before 1752 the year began on Lady Day, March 25th,. Dates between January 1st and March 24th were at the end of the year. Old Style (O.S.) and New Style (N.S.) are used to indicate whether the year has been adjusted. Often both dates are used.

Europeans who made the voyage to America faced a difficult journey of several months.
